Hard Facing Types

OTI hardbanding is available in either a flush or raised configuration. OTI can offer to apply the following types of hardbanding in accordance with customer request.

  1. ARNCO 100XT, 150XT, 300XT & 350XT.

    ARNCO 100XT is a ferrous based alloy containing chromium manganese and molybdenum, that does not exhibit cracking. It is extremely casing friendly and re-application is possible without removal of previous layer. ARNCO 200XT was the predecessor of 100XT, this material was prone to stress cracking and several incidences of spalling have been experienced. The company no longer recommends the use of ARNCO 200XT.

    ARNCO 150XT has a non-cracking characteristic and is extremely casing friendly. It has exceptional durability and much improved wear resistance (3.5 times better than 100XT). The 150XT is easy to apply as per standard procedures developed by ARNCO and can be applied over itself without removal of previous layer. This material may also be applied over ARNCO’s 100XT & 350XT using proper procedures and an evaluation of the previous application.

    ARNCO 300XT is designed to provide improved open hole wear resistance and is very casing friendly. It can be re-applied over itself and is a cracking-type product. It is considered as a very wear resistant hardbanding.

    ARNCO 350XT is a metal cored wire that produces hardness greater than 60 HRC. They are considered to be tough, highly wear resistant and a non-cracking, casing friendly deposit. ARNCO 350XT produces a smooth-crack free deposit with very little spatter requiring minimal post-weld cleanup. This material may also be applied over ARNCO’s 100XT & 350XT using proper procedures and an evaluation of the previous application.

  2. Tungsten Carbide Hardbanding

    Tungsten carbide hardbanding is carried out using Tungsten carbide pellets that are spherical in shape. These pellets are embedded into the overlay to further improve the tool joint wear life.

  3. mooth X Hardbanding

    The Smooth X hardbanding is applied by machining a groove into the tool joint body and then applying tungsten carbide hardbanding flush (even) with the tool joint. The tungsten carbide granules are embedded in a mild steel matrix providing a smooth surface with little or no exposed carbide.

  4. TCS 8000 & TCS Titanium

    TCS 8000 is a highly refined chrome alloy with nickel, vanadium and molybdenum that helps for an extremely smooth overlay. The TCS 8000 exhibits a very dense and uniform grain structure and can be applied over itself. It is crack-free and resistant to impact & corrosion. No shielding gas is required for its application and TCS 8000 can be resurfaced multiple times.

    TCS Titanium is a martensitic chrome-titanium carbide alloy with molybdenum that offers high stress abrasion resistance and has the ability to resist cracking and spalling. The TCS Titanium like the TCS 8000 exhibits a very dense and uniform grain structure and can be applied over itself. It is a casing friendly hardbanding that does not require shielding gas for its application.
